The E-Sensium 3.2 Burgundy is a secret E-bike.
Unless someone tells you it’s an e-bike, you’d probably just think it’s a stylish endurance machine. The battery is hidden in the oversized downtube, and the hub motor sits in the rear wheel, hidden by the disc on one side and the cassette on the other. All other e-bike components are carefully hidden away, with a discreet charging point near the bottom bracket and the iWoc One-Button sitting on the top-tube, giving you complete control over the entire system without any bulky control unit on the handlebars. The Ebikemotion X35 has 3 support levels and gives you 40NM of torque, assisting you up to 25km/h. The E-Sensium has a proprietary ‘Supreme 5’ aluminium frame so you’re guaranteed the same stiff and responsive ride characteristics as the rest of the Lapierre range. And even with the motor and battery, the total weight is only 14.7 kg, which is remarkably light for an e-bike! The hub-motor, as well as being discrete, is very quiet, so you can still enjoy your peaceful rides out in nature. If you do want to ride without the motor, the hub is very low friction, so it won’t slow you down.
When it’s time to slow down, Shimano hydraulic disc brakes with 160 mm rotors front and rear guarantee stable and reliable braking performance in all conditions. Powerful brakes are important for any bike, but more so for e-bikes, as there’s extra weight to stop and a higher average speed if you’re using motor assistance. The E-Sensium is kitted out with a 20-speed Shimano Tiagra groupset, representing a good balance of cost and performance, with many design features that have trickled down from Shimano’s top groupsets. This ensures smooth, trouble-free shifting for 1000s of kilometres.
