Lapierre Crosshill 5.0 – A gravel bike for rough terrain
The Crosshill 5.0 wants to play off-road, and even though it looks like a road bike, it has more in common with a mountain bikes than you might think. It starts with the knobby tyres, continues with the responsive brakes and doesn’t stop with the dropper seatpost.
Equipment
The Crosshill 5.0 is fully equipped for off-road use. It shifts and brakes with Shimano’s GRX gravel groupset with special features that you’ll love, especially when the going gets a little rougher. The brake hoods are designed to fit securely in your hand and offer excellent braking performance in any position. A wide range of gears ensures you can conquer every climb, even on loose ground, and the clutch rear derailleur makes the chain stick to the sprockets. No more dropped chains! As a little bonus, the Crosshill 5.0 has a lowerable ‘dropper’ seat post. This allows you to ride in a sporty position on the road or less demanding sections. As soon as you start descending and the terrain becomes more challenging, you can make the saddle disappear at the touch of a button. Hydraulic disc brakes provide powerful braking power on any terrain and the 37-millimetre-wide, profiled WTB tyres offer excellent traction on gravel and forest trails. On the road, they don’t slow you down too much and cushion bumps so that you reach the finish line comfortably.
Frame
All bikes in the Crosshill range are based on the same lightweight Supreme 5 aluminium frame. The frame’s geometry is sporty enough to be fun on longer stretches of tarmac without being too aggressive – perfect for long days in the saddle and keeping full control even on rougher terrain. The frame has internal cable routing for a tidy look. You also get a lightweight carbon fork for more stiffness when steering. The bike is equipped with thru-axles for easy and secure wheel mounting and additional stiffness.
