Cipollini The One Super Record – Made to Race
The One is the bike that company founder and former sprint world champion Mario Cipollini would have liked to race. A road machine with relentless forwards momentum, the latest technology, aerodynamics and a stiff frame made for professional cyclists.
You can see the aerodynamic optimisation at first glance: Seat and front down tube nestle tightly around the tires like a time trial bike, the fork is streamlined too.
The frame is manufactured using the in-house TCM process (True Carbon Monocoque). This is not just any conventional monocoque frame but is actually made from one piece rather than having the rear triangle inserted afterwards, as is the case with most commercially available monocoque frames. Thus, a high degree of stiffness is achieved a low weight. The aero racer has high stiffness values both at the head tube and at the oversized chainstays, which increases steering precision and converts every watt into forward motion.
As always with Cipollini, the frame geometry is adapted so that the bike behaves identically in terms of handling and performance with every frame size. The carbon finish also varies depending on the frame type, the version for rim brakes has a 1-K finish, the disc brake version gets the 3-K finish. Internal cable routing also ensures a clean design and aerodynamic advantages.
A perfectly tuned set-up: tradition meets the newest technology, made in Italy
This version of the ONE is equipped with Campagnolo Super Record rim brakes and is Italian through and through: Super Record EPS, the flagship of Campagnolo gear systems takes care of the shifting. Campagnolo pioneered the introduction of twelve-speed gears on road bikes with their mechanical groupsets, and the brand was also the first to make an electronic twelve-speed groupset. With the premium, lightweight Super Record EPS, you get the finest materials and outstanding shifting performance. Carbon and titanium are what you get at this level, and the ergonomic shifters that move through several gears with only the lightest touch, mean your hands won’t get tired. You get a finely tuned gear range as well as a lot of personalisation and analysis options via the “My Campy” app on your smartphone or bike computer. A classic compact 34-50 chainset on the front with a twelve-speed 11-32 cassette lets you find the right gear for every situation and the high-performance 45 mm Campagnolo WTO carbon wheels rims let you glide aerodynamically through the wind.
The result of intensive research
Mario Cipollini invests a great deal of time and passion in research and development work to keep coming up with innovative, high-performance frame designs that are also exceptionally aesthetically and emotionally appealing. His team at the company headquarters in Verona includes the best engineers in the industry.
The brand relies on transparent production chains and Italian craftsmanship: the bikes are developed and produced mainly in Italy, including production still done by hand. The carbon lamination takes place in the Cipollini Bike Centre in Bosnia under the supervision of Italian experts. Cipollini tests the materials together with professional teams, which the brand also partially sponsors.
The One, as its name suggests, is unique, especially in terms of stiffness and efficiency. It’s Mario Cipollini’s no holds barred vision of pure power. The racer is UCI compliant, but ambitious hobby riders with a love of Italian design and speed will have just as much fun with The One, especially if they want to compete.
